Medicare Dual Advantage – Medicare Annual Election Period Ends December 7!

Medicare Dual Advantage (HMO SNP) is a Medicare Advantage plan for people who qualify for both Medicaid and Medicare. This plan helps coordinate your healthcare needs with no monthly premiums or deductibles. Your plan includes prescription medications, and you’ll have access to unique program benefits like dental and vision coverage and a monthly allowance to spend through our over-the-counter catalog.

Maybe you’ve heard the term “Medicare AEP” thrown around this time of year. Do you know what that means? AEP stands for Annual Election Period. You may have also heard it called “annual enrollment.” AEP takes place from October 15 to December 7 every year. During this time, people who qualify for Medicare can change their Medicare health plan for the following year. You can sign up for a plan, switch plans, and/or leave a plan during this time.

It’s important to review your current plan, if you have one, to make sure it’s meeting your needs. Medicare health plans can make changes each year to benefits, coverage, provider/pharmacy network, and costs. Documents like the “Evidence of Coverage” (EOC) and “Annual Notice of Change” (ANOC) should be reviewed to find out if your plan is changing. (If you’re a current MCW Dual Advantage member, those documents can be found in our member library.)

If you’re shopping for a new plan to better suit your situation, we invite you to talk to a Medicare Advisor! Call 1-800-963-0035 (TTY: 711) or fill out this form!
