MY WHY – Esther, Care Manager

At My Choice Wisconsin, our employees are passionate about the work we do. We come from all walks of life but are united by a dedication to serving our members and helping them find ways to live their healthiest, most independent lives. Read on to learn WHY we come to work every day!

I have been blessed to work in the Social Work field for over 40 years, and I am proud to be a Care Manager at My Choice Wisconsin.

Waking up every morning and looking forward to going to work is such a joy. I never feel like I’m working because of the chance to offer compassionate service and support to our community. Having the support and camaraderie of my colleagues is a gift.

Many people ask me why I continue to work and the answer is simple: to see a member smile because their needs are being met makes me feel great about my work. Transportation to medical appointments or a new walker might sound like small examples, but it’s the simple things in life that mean the most. The walker gave that member a new sense of independence and the help with transportation allowed them to experience something new in the community. The medical alert system gave a member a new sense of safety and security living at home. These are just a few examples of things that can make a positive difference in people’s lives.

Making a difference in people’s lives and bringing smiles to their faces gives me a sense of great satisfaction. That’s my WHY.

In my leisure time I enjoy connecting to nature with walks through the park. My family is very important to me and I love spending time with my children and grandchildren, especially attending my grandson’s baseball games.
