I have always been a helper – it’s something that is just within me. Growing up and even in early adulthood, I didn’t always realize just how strongly it is embedded in me. I did, however, know that when I grew up, I wanted to work with people and help them. I began my work with our organization as a care manager a little over 5 years ago. Within the first week of my employment, I knew that I found the place where I belonged. Working alongside our members to help provide tools, resources, and support to help them live their best lives within their community brings me so much joy and fulfillment. No doubt, working to support human needs is hard work. But at the end of the day, we are constantly helping to improve the lives of others. And not just the members we serve – their families and supports as well. We don’t always hear the “thank you” from those we serve, but we see them and can sense them along the way.

Serving our members is a key factor that keeps me working in the field I do. But it’s more than that at My Choice Wisconsin. I have never worked for another company that strives to support their employees the way MCW does. We believe in balance between work and home life, and it’s not just a phrase that gets tossed around – it is practiced. We too are human beings with needs, doing hard work; knowing I can take the time I need for myself, and my family is something I value beyond measure. In addition, I have the best peers to work with every day. We cheer for each other’s successes, celebrate each other, help carry the weight of challenges as much as we can when it’s hard, help find the answers when it seems like there just isn’t going to be one, and so much more. It’s an environment where I am constantly challenged, encouraged, and growing on a regular basis.

Lastly, My Choice Wisconsin is an organization that encourages and fosters personal growth with its employees. MCW provides ongoing training and education to staff to ensure we have the skills and knowledge needed to carry out our daily work. Additionally, employees are encouraged to pursue growth opportunities within the organization. After a few years of care management, I was promoted to a Lead Supervisor and recently transitioned to a Program Manager position. While I always value opportunities for growth, I strongly believe that those opportunities were nurtured from the support I continuously receive from my peers and my supervisors. I am excited to see our organization continue to grow! And can confidently say that I love my job!
