Tell Me Something Good – Audio Newsletter Now Available!

At My Choice Wisconsin, our staff regularly receive uplifting emails from our Member Advisory Committee. These feel-good messages make our week and we’re pleased they have agreed to include you in sharing their positive thoughts!

The Member Advisory Committee (MAC) is pleased to announce that audio versions of the member newsletter will be available on our website www.mychoicewi.org going forward. The audio version of the spring Member Newsletter is already up on our News page!

A person sitting at a desk using a computer Description automatically generatedThis enhancement will benefit many different individuals – people who are blind, visually impaired, or dyslexic, as well as individuals who have cognitive or physical conditions that make it difficult for them to read.

The MAC has been working on this idea for a while. We teamed up with three MCW staff members to make it happen this year: Jenny, Care Management Education Specialist; Alexandra, Marketing Specialist; and Mary Clare, Self-Advocacy Specialist. The MAC is grateful to them for their efforts and determination to make this happen!

The MAC continues to work with the organization on ideas for improving accessible communication. Along with MCW, we want to provide communication that is clear, direct, easy to understand, and can be available in multiple formats so that all members have equal access.

This is part of MCW’s ongoing commitment to the National CLAS Standards. CLAS stands for Culturally and Linguistically Appropriate Services. Culture refers to all the ways of life of a group of people (like their music, arts, beliefs, etc.) that are shared from generation to generation.

Linguistics is how those people use language to communicate, through speech, writing, and gestures. The National CLAS Standards outline 15 action steps with the goal of improving the quality and equality of services provided to all individuals. MCW respects the diversity of its members and responds accordingly to each member’s unique health and long-term care needs.
